Children of the Night (www.childrenofthenight.org) is a private, non-profit organization that rescues children, 11 to 17 years old, from prostitution and the horrors of living on the streets. Founded in 1979 by Dr. Lois Lee, Children of the Night provides a hotline staff available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These specially trained staff members work with local law enforcement to rescue children from any location, at any time, from dangerous pimps. The organization also offers education, counseling and compassionate care in their Children of the Night Home. Here, these forgotten children attend school, participate in planned activities, and receive loving emotional care and long-term support to help them develop a life plan for re-entering society as capable, confident adults. YouthAIDS (www.youthaids.org) is a Population Services International (PSI) program founded in 2001 by Kate Roberts that reaches 600 million youth in over 60 countries with the message of stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS. Using media, pop culture, music concerts, theatre, sports and fashion, YouthAIDS develops campaigns to change the behavior of at-risk youth ages 15-24. The organization is committed to ending the global epidemic of HIV and AIDS by providing information, products, services and care.
